With a growing population in a climate crisis, how will we feed 10 billion people sustainably by 2050? We would need to produce 56% more food but at the same time reduce emissions by 67% and not use up any more space; half of the globes vegetated land is already in use for agriculture.
In Africa and South-East Asia, Vitamin A deficiency is the leading cause of preventable blindness in children and pregnant women. Hundreds and thousands of children die from Vitamin A deficiency every year. In terms of food waste, Australians throw out 20% of their food purchased and Americans discard 30-40% of the US food supply every year.
Genetically modified foods that are disease resistant, higher in nutrients, have a longer shelf life and require fewer resources can help solve these issues. Not to mention we can make them tastier too.
GM technology is now more precise and efficient than ever. We can produce the same results in 10 years that would have taken 100 years in traditional breeding. All Greenie products have gone through extensive testing and are safe to consume.
